All these factors are important, and at Ranger Caradoc we strive to fulfil them all. Quality and reliability are critical: we can’t over emphasise the risk of purchasing lower grade or cheap components for your hydraulic system. It just isn’t worth it.
However, so long as you seek out a reputable UK manufacturer and do your research into the parts you need, quality shouldn’t be an issue. We are very proud of the hydraulic cylinders we manufacture and are good at what we do – but we’re not the only place where you can source good quality parts.

Lead time and availability is a more pervasive problem. Long lead times and lack of stock are big problems for suppliers in the UK. This in part is why so many OEMs turn to cheaper manufacturers in the Far East and elsewhere – to bridge a supply problem with better quality manufacturers nearer home.
With tight project deadlines to meet, lack of availability is a real problem. It is one of the challenges we have striven hard to resolve with our business model. Manufacturers should not have to choose between waiting X number of weeks for a high quality UK part, and ordering cheaply from China – with all the inherent risks.

Our solution to the problem of lead time is to keep plentiful stock in the UK of all our most popular parts. As a direct manufacturer ourselves, we don’t have the supply problems that many businesses face. A lot of the trade wholesalers who supply OEMs are dependent on third parties to keep up their stock. If their supplier has difficulties sourcing materials, or deliveries are late, there isn’t much they can do to prevent their warehouse stock running low. With the best will in the world, a trade merchant is always vulnerable to supply issues unless they manufacture components themselves.
